MOL-Approved Training Provider — GTA

WORKING AT
HEIGHTS
CERTIFICATION
GTA & ONTARIO

Get your crew Ministry-approved and fully compliant before your next MOL inspection. In-person training in Mississauga. On-site delivery across the GTA. Same-week booking available.

Ontario Reg 297/13 compliant
10,000+ workers trained
15+ years experience
Certificates issued same day

MOL construction blitzes are active across Ontario. Incomplete WAH training is one of the top three inspection findings. A stop-work order on an active project costs more in a single day than a full crew certification.

Per-worker pricing available. Most companies recover the full cost of training in less than one day of avoided downtime from an MOL stop-work order.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN
YOU'RE NOT CERTIFIED

🚧
MOL Stop-Work Orders

An MOL inspector finding workers without valid WAH certification issues an immediate stop-work order. One day of lost productivity can cost $5,000–$50,000 depending on the project and contract penalties.

💸
Fines Up to $100,000

Under the OHSA, employers violating Ontario Regulation 297/13 face fines up to $100,000 per offence. In cases involving injury, criminal negligence charges have been pursued.

⚠️
Liability in the Event of Injury

If a worker is injured without proper certification, your liability exposure increases dramatically. Recent Ontario cases resulted in $80,000+ fines specifically for incomplete WAH training.

📋
Lost Contracts & Prequalification

Many GCs and public sector clients require proof of WAH certification before awarding subcontracts. Without current certifications, your crew may be disqualified from bidding on higher-value projects.

WHAT YOUR CREW
LEARNS AND IS TESTED ON

Our Ministry-approved program covers every requirement under Ontario Regulation 297/13. Delivered by trainers with 15+ years of field experience — not just classroom theory.

01
Fall Hazard Recognition

Identifying and assessing fall hazards on construction sites — edges, openings, roof work, scaffolding, ladders, and elevated work platforms.

02
Fall Protection Systems

Guardrail systems, safety nets, travel restraint, fall arrest, and work positioning — proper selection, use, and inspection requirements.

03
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

Pre-use inspection of harnesses, lanyards, anchors, and connectors. How to identify defects and when to remove equipment from service.

04
Employer & Worker Responsibilities

Legal duties under the OHSA and Ontario Regulation 297/13. What supervisors must ensure before any worker is permitted to work at heights.

05
Rescue & Emergency Procedures

What to do when a fall occurs. Rescue planning requirements and dangers of suspension trauma — what every worker needs to know.

06
Practical & Written Assessment

Ministry-required evaluation including both practical and written assessment. Certificates issued same day upon successful completion.

REQUIRED FOR ANY WORKER
WHO WORKS ABOVE GROUND

Under Ontario Regulation 297/13, any worker who may work at heights on a construction project must hold a valid Working at Heights certificate.

🏗️
General Contractors

Project managers, site superintendents, and any GC workers performing or supervising work at heights on Ontario construction sites.

🔨
Sub-Trades

Roofers, framers, steel erectors, masonry, HVAC, electrical, and any trade working above the ground — regardless of project size.

👷
New Hires Starting On Site

Any worker new to a role that involves working at heights must be certified before their first day working at elevation. No exceptions.

🔄
Workers Due for Renewal

WAH certificates are valid for 3 years. Workers with expired certificates are non-compliant and cannot legally work at heights until renewed.

📐
Supervisors & Foremen

Site supervisors who oversee workers at heights are responsible for ensuring their team is certified — and must hold certification themselves.

🏢
Civil & Utilities Contractors

Infrastructure contractors, utility workers, and anyone performing elevated work in Ontario's infrastructure sector require valid certification.

ANSWERS BEFORE
YOU CALL

Is Cortech's training Ministry-approved?

Yes. Our Working at Heights training is approved by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development under Ontario Regulation 297/13. All certificates are recognized by MOL inspectors on Ontario construction sites.

How long is the course and when are certificates issued?

The full certification course runs approximately 6–8 hours including a practical component. Certificates are issued the same day upon successful completion of the written and practical assessment. Valid for 3 years.

Can you come to our job site?

Yes. We offer on-site delivery across the GTA — ideal for larger crews where moving workers to a facility causes significant downtime. Contact us to discuss your site location, group size, and space requirements.

How fast can we get booked?

Most groups can be scheduled within 48–72 hours. For urgent inspection deadlines or project start dates, call us directly at (416) 252-7233 and we will do everything possible to accommodate same-week scheduling.

What's the difference between WAH and fall protection training?

Working at Heights is the Ministry-mandated program under Ontario Regulation 297/13 specifically for construction workers. General fall protection training does not satisfy the MOL's WAH requirement. If your workers are on a construction site, they need WAH certification specifically.

Do you offer group pricing for larger crews?

Yes. Pricing is based on group size and delivery format. Fill out the form or call (416) 252-7233 for a quote. We work with companies of all sizes from sole proprietors to large GCs with 50+ workers.
